Grassroots Actions

When you call us we are there! Supporting our fellow officers from across the nation. Below are a few of the rallies and protests ACO took part in.

Massachusetts Correction Officers Federated Union

When the MCOFU descended upon the state house in Boston 1,000 strong, ACO members marched with their Massachusetts Brothers and Sisters demanding a fair contract after 40 months without a raise. (The MCOFU has since won their contract fight with a 16% pay raise, and a $3,000 signing bonus!)

Nassau Sheriff Officers Association, New York

The County Commissioners were attempting to make civilians temporary Peace Officers to avoid overtime and fill vacant CO slots with civilians. ACO members attended the NShOA rally and testified before the county legislators stopping this absurd idea

Oklahoma Public Employees Association

The OPEA called ACO when a private prison company wanted to locate one of their dungeons in a small pristine town in Oklahoma. ACO ran ads in the local papers, spoke with townspeople and the project is currently off the table!

State Officers Benevolent Association, New Jersey

When NJ CO’s asked us to help address changes to the juvenile segregation policy. ACO joined in the fight and contacted the Attorney General. New Jersey Juvenile Justice Executive Director Harold Beyers has since resigned.

Wyoming Association of Correctional Employees,  I.U.P.A., Local 626

When DOC Director Robert Lampert told National Public Radio that Wyoming prisons were safe even with a 30% vacancy rate for CO positions, an escape and two staff members murdered in the past ten years, ACO contacted NPR, got on the radio and set the folks in Wyoming straight
