Desert Waters Correctional Outreach is announcing its next TRAINING FOR TRAINERS on CORRECTIONS FATIGUE.
May 11-13, 2011, Florence Colorado Maximum:
8 Trainers Minimum: 3 Trainers
WHY TAKE THIS TRAINING: Correctional work takes its toll on staff due to repeated exposure to negativity, conflict, violence and death. Staff may end up battling Correc-tions Fatigue, the gradual “wear-and-tear” of body, soul and spirit due to the cumula-tive impact of these work-related stressors. Corrections Fatigue is manifested through distortions in staff members’ core beliefs about themselves, other people and life in general. Their coping and interpersonal skills are also affected, adversely, impacting morale, professionalism and the staff’s personal lives. However, corrections work can also lead to positive personal transformation and increased resilience. In this valuable Training for Trainers you will learn to identify the nature and sources of Corrections Fatigue; describe its effects on staff’s core beliefs and behavior; and sug-gest ways to counter and prevent its toxic influence. The goal is for trainers to become equipped to train staff on self-care, basic ways to increase personal resilience and personal growth, and ways to create a more positive and supportive work environment.
